Completely encircling the ship is Nieuw Amsterdam's outdoor 360 degree promenade.  Guests enjoy this area by relaxing on the traditional deck chairs or attending the popular On Deck for the Cure® event.

Forward on Promenade Deck is the three story Showroom at Sea.  Proceeding aft from the Showroom at Sea, guests may pass through an elevator lobby that features two Resin works of art by Peruvian artist Marcello Wong titled 'Eavesdropping'.  Such figures with lighter, brushed features are common throughout Nieuw Amsterdam, creating a lighter and more airy feel than even her sister ship Eurodam.

On the starboard side of Promenade Deck while continuing to head aft, guests may enjoy the Screening Room for recent release films and fresh, complimentary popcorn.  A whimsical work of art at the entrance to the Screening Room was designed by German artist Volker Kühn, titled 'Vasarely Angelt Viewbox'.  The Screening Room has also become incorporated into some of the Vista Class ships as they've gone through Signature of Excellence dry dock enhancements.

Just across from the Screening Room are the multi-functional meeting rooms : Half Moon, Hudson, and Stuyvesant, that can accommodate 25, 50, and 30 guests respectively.  These rooms can also be combined among one another to create larger meeting areas.  These rooms are ideal for meetings at sea that require audio visual capabilities.  A number of different table arrangements are possible based upon the format of the meeting.  By day, these rooms may also function as a card room. na10_0397.jpg (69030 bytes) na10_0398.jpg (72821 bytes)

Aft of the shopping arcade and encircling Nieuw Amsterdam's Atrium is the traditional Ocean Bar, which can be found on all Holland America Line ships.  It is a favourite gathering spot for guests throughout the evening for cocktails and people watching.  Guests may sit at the actual bar or anywhere else throughout the expansive lounge in any number of seating areas.

Prominently featured in the Ocean Bar on the Eurodam is wood carving 'Neptune' whereas on the Nieuw Amsterdam there is a brass, wood, and copper work of art titled 'Empty Column' by Mexican Artist Miquel Perez.

At the aft end of the Ocean Bar is a work of art titled 'Neptun' which is a Neo-rococo palais bronze clock from France, circa 1880.

Located completely aft on both Promenade and Lower Promenade Decks is the two-story, 1,114 capacity Manhattan Dining Room.  The Manhattan Dining room offers both traditional, fixed dining times as well as open seating.  Guests can specify which they prefer during their cruise booking process.  Open seating allows guests to either call in a preferred time or to appear at the dining room and be seated.  If a seat is not immediately available, a pager is given to call guests when it is ready.
