Carnival Pride's resounding success was launched by an equally impressive christening ceremony.  United States space travel pioneer Dr. Tamara Jernigan serves as the godmother of Carnival Pride and is recorded as having logged more flight hours (over fifteen hundred) on a space shuttle than any other female astronaut in history.  She was also the youngest female astronaut selected to participate in a manned space mission.

Dr. Tamara Jernigan named the Carnival Pride at a dockside ceremony at Port Canaveral, Florida, USA on January 7th, 2002.

After a couple of short preview cruises, Carnival Pride sailed the Caribbean waters from Port Canaveral.  On September 7th, 2003, the Carnival Pride pursued a Panama Canal Voyage to Los Angeles, California.  She then began her career sailing to the Mexican Riviera from Long Beach, California.

At the time of this publication, it had just only been recently announced that Carnival Pride will depart West Coast waters and reposition to Caribbean waters from Miami, Florida and Baltimore, Maryland via the Panama Canal in 2009.

Carnival Pride's accommodations and services are well suited for a wide variety of itineraries and maintains her position as one of Carnival Cruise Line's strongest fleet mates.
