Lower Promenade Deck | ||
Located
completely forward on Lower Promenade Deck is the Vista Lounge.
Located outside of, and in the vicinity of, the entrance of the Vista
Lounge are both a stone Welsh Talbot vase and another vase with two
guilded eco-deco columns by Lebigre and Roger.
The Vista Lounge seats 867 guests and generally does so in two show times. Most times there is an early show performance for the earlier dining times and then also a later. Depending upon the evening's programming, the later sittings may see their show before dinner. Located just within the entrance of the Vista Lounge on Lower Promenade Deck is a figure of an Odalesque copy of a cast iron sculpture originally from France, mid 19th century by Artiprex of the Netherlands, 2001. The architecture
and design of the Vista Lounge and the accompanying stage has allowed
Holland America Line to bring entertainment to a new level in terms of
production shows. Proceeding aft on
Lower Promenade Deck outside of the Vista Lounge, guests will find the
Piano Bar. The Piano Bar seats 70 guests and is a trademark venue
on most all Holland America Line ships and guests enjoy sitting around
the piano for sing alongs or to just relax and listen. Adjacent to the
Piano Bar is the Sports Bar, with a capacity of 42 guests. Guests
here can enjoy beverages while catching telecasted events on televisions
located throughout. Perhaps the most eye-catching feature of the
Sports Bar is 'Humoristic Sports Figures' by Jan Snoeck of the
Netherlands. The Queens Lounge
and Culinary Arts Center is located amidships. The entrance of the
Queens Lounge features a cast bronze bust of H.M. Queen Beatrix, Queen
of the Netherlands, by Dutch artist Martha Waijop. Along the lines of
culinary delights, encompassing the Atrium on this deck is the Pinnacle
Grill which seats 130 guests. The Pinnacle Grill offers an
extended level of elegance where fittings such as Bvlgari ® china,
Riedel ® stemware, and Frette ® linens enhance the dining experience. When Zuiderdam departs dry dock in Palermo Italy in the Spring of 2008, the Pinnacle Bar will be located across from the Pinnacle Grill and provide a classy setting for enjoying fine wines. This area was originally designed as the Windstar Café. Proceeding aft on
Lower Promenade Deck, guests will pass through the art gallery which
displays a highly impressive collection of an Amphitride figure in
carnaval costume, Arlequin and Colombine figures in carnaval costumes,
and a Neptune figure in carnaval costume. |

The dominant work of art in the Explorer's Lounge is 'The Venetian Harbor' by Fred Arends of the Netherlands. The artist's forté is translating paintings from the Dutch romantic period into a contemporary execution. With the activity of the foreground, works such as repoussoir attracts the viewer's gaze to the famous San Giorgio Maggiore church. | ![]() |
