Lower Promenade Deck

Lower Promenade Deck provides a 360 degree full-circuit teak promenade.  Guests may walk laps here or just settle in with a good book on one of the traditional deck chairs.
At the base of the Atrium is a case featuring a prominent painting titled, 'Winter Landscape with Skaters' from 19th century Netherlands.  Also within the case are other Dutch works such as a wooden skate stick, Delft clay tile, two pairs of wooden children skates,  and two large wooden skates with curled ends from the Netherlands around 1800.
The Atrium
Perhaps Veendam's most prominent work of art on board is in the Atrium.

'Jacob's Ladder' is a three-story spiral work of art made of cut crystal.  The original Jacob's Ladder was the biblical Stairway to Heaven.  In nautical terms, a 'Jacob's Ladder' refers to a specialized ladder used at sea, especially a rope ladder, with wooden steps for ascending from the deck to the rigging.  Luckily, guests may ascent on the sweeping staircases encircling the Atrium or use nearby lifts.
