| At the base of the Atrium is a case featuring a prominent painting titled, 'Winter Landscape with Skaters' from 19th century Netherlands. Also within the case are other Dutch works such as a wooden skate stick, Delft clay tile, two pairs of wooden children skates, and two large wooden skates with curled ends from the Netherlands around 1800. | ![]() |

Perhaps Veendam's
most prominent work of art on board is in the Atrium.
'Jacob's
Ladder' is a three-story spiral work of art made of cut crystal. The
original Jacob's Ladder was the biblical Stairway to Heaven. In
nautical terms, a 'Jacob's Ladder' refers to a specialized ladder used at
sea, especially a rope ladder, with wooden steps for ascending from the
deck to the rigging. Luckily, guests may ascent on the sweeping
staircases encircling the Atrium or use nearby lifts. |
