Diamond Princess was christened on February 26th, 2004 in Nagasaki, Japan by Mrs. Yoshiko Tsukuda, wife of Mr. Kazuo Tsukuda, President of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.  Mitsubishi was commissioned by Princess Cruises to build two ships, the Diamond and then Sapphire Princess.
